Best Caffeine-Free Alternatives to Your Morning Coffee

I'm sure we see at least ten memes about this one issue on social media every day...I’m referring to coffee memes, and how people can’t seem to function without it.

With all of the ‘but first coffee’ memes, t-shirts, and mugs we see in our daily lives, it’s natural to believe that coffee is the ideal way to start the day. We appear to be dealing with an epidemic of exhaustion, and many individuals are self-medicating by fueling their bodies with constant supply of coffee. Every. Single. Day.

Coffee is high in antioxidants and, of course, a pleasant way to kick off the morning, so it’s typically a natural choice for many people to start the day, even before our daily shake.

Is coffee beneficial to you? What are its primary chemical constituents? What is Caffeine and its impact on the body? What makes certain individuals experience effects that others do not? When should you avoid drinking coffee? Finally, is decaf healthier than caffeinated?

Yes, that’s a whole slew of questions.

Drinks high in sugar, chemicals, and caffeine will only provide a short, unnatural surge of energy, burning down our adrenal glands and contributing to major long-term health concerns. The caffeine surge is not without its drawbacks, including:

  • stomach inflammation {goodbye, gut health!}
  • Harmful impact on the thyroid and adrenal glands
  • feelings of nervousness, anxiety, or “the jitters”
  • heart palpitations
  • insomnia

What if we decide to give our bodies REAL energy rather than a coffee buzz? The most reviving, purifying, and energetic start to the day is made with the basic ingredients! Get the day going with THESE alternatives!

  • Lemonade Water

For anyone who dislikes drinking plain water, it’s a terrific alternative. You can also use raw apple cider vinegar in addition to lemon juice to boost the minerals. Add ginger, fresh or powdered, for improved immunity and digestion.

  • Natural Energy Drink

Add 1 tablespoon of chia seeds and 1 teaspoon of honey to a cup of green tea. Chia seeds are the star ingredient in this beverage, which are rich in calcium, magnesium, Omega-3 fatty acids, and good protein. Chia provides you with sustained energy while green tea softly energizes you. Honey gives a little extra sweetness and an extra energy boost.

  • Morning Pick-Me-Up

To get you through the morning slump and keep you energized for the rest of the day, take a quick dose of apple cider vinegar. Try this if you want to recover quickly from your coffee withdrawal headaches and grumpiness.

  • Daily Detox & Enjoyment

Daily detoxification, or getting rid of stuff that impede the body and mind, is a big part of having energy. Drink fruit-infused water to promote natural detox and increase your vitality. No sugar or caffeine, just pure fruity water!

  • Green Tea

Green tea has several advantages, as we are all well aware. It helps us maintain good skin, shed pounds, boost our metabolism, fend off chronic illnesses, etc. Additionally, it serves as a fantastic alternative for coffee when trying to stay alert. Numerous studies have demonstrated the anti-cancer effects of green tea on pancreatic, bladder, stomach, lung, and colorectal cancers. It also aids in the prevention of type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

  • Turmeric Shot

Turmeric teas have strong flavors that can be mellowed by adding honey, fresh lemon or orange juice, and milk. Curcumin, an ingredient in this Ayurvedic herb, has been demonstrated to support the brain’s ability to function at greater levels. According to a 2010 review, turmeric’s neuroprotective impact may improve brain health and stave off Alzheimer’s disease.

  • Smoothies

A smoothie is one of the healthiest beverages you can consume on chiller days to stay warm. The main ingredients in a smoothie are either yogurt cream or frozen yogurt and fresh fruit. You can add any fruit of your choice to this healthy beverage to keep you topped up during the day. [My fave Coco-Hydro Smoothie recipe is here]

Blend ½ cup nut milk, ½ ripe banana, ½ orange, and ½ cup coconut water. Bananas and coconut water are rich sources of potassium, which regulates healthy cells and their capacity to produce energy naturally.

  • Hot Chocolate

A warming beverage for chilly days—hot chocolate made by mixing instant chocolate syrup with water in a glass. To curb your sugar cravings, try one with no added sugar or one with very little sugar. If you don’t want to drink your chocolate beverages with dairy ingredients, you can also select chocolates that are soy free.

  • Spicy Warmer

This is the hot drink you need if you want energy without caffeine! As it feeds your insides, it is packed with calming, anti-inflammatory spices.

In a small pan, simmer 2 cups of water. Add 1 inch of fresh sliced ginger, ¼ teaspoon of turmeric, 1 ½ teaspoons of honey, and ¼ teaspoon of crushed cardamom. Serve in your favorite cup with one or two lemon slices!

It’s a terrific way to start the day with hot water and ginger if you’re attempting to cut back on your typical caffeine intake.  After at least 8 hours of fasting since our last meal, a cup of hot water first thing in the morning is exactly what our body requires to get our metabolism going. This will keep our digestive system running smoothly all day.

  • Beet the Slump

Juice 1 tiny beetroot, 1 apple, 1 lemon, 2 celery stalks, and a handful of spinach, serve over ice. This mix of energizing beets, zesty lemon, and apple will keep you going all afternoon! Beets are high in nitrates, which help to minimize the quantity of oxygen required by blood vessels and muscles to function. In the body, Nitrates get converted to nitric oxide, which helps to lower blood pressure by expanding blood vessels and allowing oxygen to flow freely.

  • Green Superfood

Blend 2 small cucumbers, 1 celery stalk, ¼ cup kale leaves, ¼ cup spinach, 1 tablespoon parsley, and ½ lemon juice. Serve over crushed ice. Green veggies are abundant in chlorophyll, which helps to oxygenate the blood. Boost your energy levels and sharpen your mind with oxygenated blood!

Prepare one of these delectable morning drinks to get a great start to the day. Additionally, they keep you full all day long, stopping you from gulping down another cup of coffee as soon as you wake up. With these delicious alternatives, encourage your body’s innate capacity to give you daily energy crash and feel vibrant all day!
